Located within the High Amazonia,
the area of Misahualli offers a large range of activities for all : families, adventurers, fans of sports and strollers.
You will find hereunder a list of various things that can be done around our place.
Activities easy to do on your own :
- Visiting the village and meeting its monkeys (capuchins).
- Swimming in the river Misahualli.
- Walking to the Latas waterfall (1 hour and a half), and swimming in its natural pools.
- Hiking during 1 to 3 hours in secondary forest, discovering the insects and the Amazonian flora.
- Discovering the rainforest, on a well-labelled trail (about 2 hours), within the Jatun Sacha biological reserve.
- Butterfly-watching, under the guidance of an entomologist.
- Visiting the Amazoonico, a center for animals rescued from illegal trade.
Activities requiring the attendance of a guide :
- Sailing down the Rio Napo (the Ecuadorian branch of the Amazon) in a balsa raft or a canoe to feel the subtle harmony between water and forest.
- Hiking in the rain forest during a one-day trip, or longer trips.
- Hiking at night in the rain forest, discovering its nocturnal residents.
- Visiting the “Sacha Samay” museum, presenting hunting techniques and traditional indigenous culture.
- Visiting one of the natural located next to Misahualli.
- Visiting a botanical garden and learning about the use of medicinal herbs.
- Discovering the traditional gold-washing technique.
- Rafting, cayak and buoy rafting on the Napo river or one of its tributaries, according to the level of river you wish to sail.
- Meeting an indigenous family within a community, and learning about their handicraft techniques (ceramics, chicha production).
- Staying in a community during one or several nights, exchanging with the indigenous people (tales and legends, traditional dances) and discovering their way of life (preparation of the ayuahuasca drink).
- Sailing in a paddle canoe on the lagunas de Limoncocha or de Pañacocha.
- Having a medicinal bath in a sulphurous river, followed by a therapeutics massage.
- Camping in the forest, fishing piranhas and observing the fauna and the flora by day as well as by night.
- Sailing down the Napo River to the city of Coca, with or without stops to visit and to stay in the forest.
